The SUCCI Atrium, in the Confederation College new REACH facility, was the site of the March Chamber After Business event. A large crowd was in attendance with 26 exhibits on display which featured a number of local businesses as well as College programs.

College students participated in a number of exhibits which allowed them to showcase their programs. These included exhibits featuring trades and technology, broadcasting, health and community services, and marketing programs.

Ashton Faulds, second-year Business Marketing student, indicated “This event allowed me the opportunity to network with a number of businesses owners and representatives in our community and to make employer connections, which will help after I graduate”.

Faulds and his classmates were raising awareness and selling tickets for the “Rock the Centre” concert, a student organized event with funds donated to the George Jeffrey Children’s Centre ...

A few Confederation College students can breathe a little bit easier when it comes to paying for their education. Recipients of this year’s National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation (NAAF) bursaries were awarded to seven students from Confederation College this year.    

“All of us at Confederation College are very proud of all our students and we want to see them reach their full potential,” said College President Jim Madder. “Bursaries like these support our students in the pursuit of their career.”

On March 9, 2012, Ron Morancy of Confederation College, will be inducted into the Klaus Woerner Skilled Trades Hall of Fame

Mr. Morancy will be honoured along with three other Ontarians at Skills Canada‐Ontario’s annual Celebration Gala. The award is the organization’s tribute to late CEO and founder of ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. and is presented annually in recognition of individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of skilled trades and technologies.

Margaret Trudeau was at Confederation College and spoke to students about mental health issues and her struggles with bipolar disorder.

Spirits were high as the Confederation College Thunderhawks women’s hockey team returned from last weekend’s Lieutenant Governor’s Invitational Women’s Hockey Tournament in Winnipeg.

Facing stiff competition, including games against the Prairie Blaze, Manitoba’s top junior team, and the Spruce Grove Stars, Alberta North’s second-ranked junior team, the Thunderhawks didn’t have the keys to unlock a win but the trip provided the team with much-needed experience and a chance to benchmark itself against Canadian college and junior teams.

Karlie Laframboise, defenceman, and Hannah Bennett, goalie, were named game MVPs on Friday.  Amber Butler, the Thunderhawks’ captain, was awarded the Mark’s Work Wearhouse Hardest Working Player Award at the tournament banquet on Saturday night.

As part of a course assignment, the Confederation College Social Service Worker-Community Development class have been undertaking fundraising activities over the past four weeks to raise funds for community agencies and organizations and also to support the College’s Helping Hands Scholarship.

The Mary J.L Black Branch Library, Isabella Retirement Living and the McIntyre Building at Confederation College each received Clean, Green & Beautiful Awards tonight during Council’s Committee of the Whole meeting.

Over 400 students from Thunder Bay and regional high schools attended Confederation College on November 24th, as part of the College Open House.

In the morning, students were provided the opportunity to visit with Program Co-ordinators, followed by a series of tours and an introduction to student life.

The Confederation College Thunderhawks Women’s Hockey Team visited Blaine, Minnesota this past weekend in the first-ever tournament for the newly-minted team.

 “The team went 1-2 for the weekend but that didn’t really tell the tale,” says Marshall Erickson, Head Coach.

Confederation College and the Student Union of Confederation College Inc. (SUCCI) announced today the addition of women’s hockey to their Thunderhawks sports lineup.

The 17-woman roster will be competing in a number of local and northern exhibition games, and out-of-town tournaments, travelling to Blaine, Minnesota and Winnipeg, Manitoba in its first year of operation, with the intent of expanding the competitive schedule in coming years.

The Honourable Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry, MPP Thunder Bay-Superior North and Bill Mauro, MPP for Thunder Bay – Atikokan, were at Confederation College in Thunder Bay today to officially open the Regional Education Alliance for Community Health (REACH) building.

Participants of the First Nations Natural Resources Youth Employment Program (FNNRYEP) will be at Confederation College this week (July 25 - 28) participating in a number of activities within the Natural Resources Science and Technology Camp.

On Wednesday the Lake of the Woods Campus of Confederation College hosted a successful fundraising golf tournament raising over $15,000.00.

The tournament began with a shot gun start at 1:00 p.m. with 12 teams participating.  The golfing was followed by dinner, awards and auctions.

Confederation College celebrated a $100,000 contribution today from Tbaytel to the Regional Education Alliance for Community Health (REACH) facility that will house programs within the School of Health and Community Services this fall.

19 graduates crossed the stage today at the 2011 Convocation Ceremony in Geraldton.

Thunder Bay/June 17, 2011  Confederation College and Nipissing University announced a formal partnership today that provides graduates from Confederation’s 3-year Business Administration program the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the university in one year. 

 The program will be offered as a hybrid delivery.  Students will complete course-work
