Ornge Foundation

It is our pleasure to recognize Ornge and AugustaWestland for their generous gift of $250,000, the largest external financial aid donation Confederation College has received for scholarships and awards.The Ornge-AgustaWestland Endowment Fund for Aboriginal Learners will help Aboriginal students who enrol in either the paramedic or flight management programs. Students can begin applying for financial aid through the fund in fall 2011.

Ornge is Canada's leading innovator in the emerging field of transport medicine, and operates from a number of bases across the province of Ontario and performs approximately 20,000 admissions annually. Ornge is dedicated to the provision of high quality patient care through innovative transport medicine. AgustaWestland is a technology leader in its markets and has an unrivalled range of rotocraft products designed to satisfy the requirements of commercial and military customers.

Working together for the success of our region is at the core of the relationship between Confederation College and TBayTel. This relationship enables Confederation College and TBayTel to identify, assess and implement innovative technologically assisted solutions that improve post secondary educational delivery in Nothern Ontario. The agreement between Confederation College and TBayTel is not a purchasing agreement but instead a principled statement that acknowledges by working together both can encourage and challenge each other to higher standards of excellence - to be a positive force in moving our region forward to economic prosperity today and for the future. 

John Andrews Foundation

We are proud to announce the John Andrews Foundation made a significant leadership contribution of $250,000 to the REACH campaign. Their gift is designated to Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs and creation of the new Dental Clinic which will be called the John Andrews Foundation Dental Clinic.

The John Andrews Foundation is an extension of John Andrews' selfless contribution to causes dedicated to the well-being of this community.

 

Ontario Power Generation

Confederation College Foundation is proud to recognize Ontario Power Generaion (OPG) for its important contribution of $30,100 which enabled the College to acquire a Mobile Level Control Trainer in support of the School of Engineering Technology and Trades (TNT Campaign). As an engineering, technology and trades based company, OPG considers its support of the TNT Campaign to be a natural fit.

Through contributions from community-minded partners such as OPG, the Foundation is better able to support the students in their quest for higher learning.

Congratulations to Sun Life Financial for their corporate gift of $25,000 to establish the Assistive Technology Lending Library in our Learning Centre.  Sun Life Financial's guiding principles of people, partnerships, passion and performance supports our mission of developing citizens who will be positioned for success in their lives and careers.

This generous gift will greatly enhance access for learning opportunities for students with disabilities, by providing specialized assistive devices to support their learning.

It is our pleasure to recognize SUCCI (The Student Union of Confederation College Inc.) for the generous donation of $250,000 on behalf of all students. This leadership gift was celebrated along with contributions from other partners at the grand opening of CAMP, which introduces new technologies that have moved our Film Production, Television Production and Multimedia Production programs into the digital age.

Key investments like this by students for students will help prepare knowledgeable, creative and skilled graduates to meet the demands of Canada's communications and entertainment world.

We are honoured to have the generous support of CanWest Global, proudly naming our new television  broadcasting facility the CanWest Global Television Production Studio.

CanWest Global's mission is to inform, enlighten, and entertain Canadians. Their generous funding ensures the next generation of journalists, writers, editors and producers all have the tools and training necessary to succeed.

On September 21, 2006, CanWest Global Communications Corp. Canada's largest media company presented Confederation College Foundation with their gift of $150,000 towards the CAMP (Centre for Applied Media Production) Capital Campaign. According to Derek Burney, 'The entertainment, creative and communication industry cluster is expected to generate substantial economic growth over the next two decades, and we see Confederation College, CAMP, and our key partners such as CanWest Global playing a leadership role in preparing students and communities in Canada to capitalize on this anticipated growth.'

It is our pleasure to recognize and thank Norma and Bill McCracken for their generous pledge of $100,000 through the Kelly McCracken Memorial.  Held annually, the Kelly McCracken GOLF FORE HOPE Memorial Tournament is one of Thunder Bay's premier golf tournaments.  We are very grateful to be sharing in the huge success of this event!

Derik McArthur, Canadian Director of the Retail/Wholesale & Department Store Union generously donated $5,000 from their Education Trust Fund on November 17, 2006 during the official opening of CAMP (Centre for Applied Media Production).

CAMP encompasses our Film Production, Television Production, and Multimedia Production programs at Confederation College gifts in support of CAMP are gratefully acknowledged and help us take one step closer to achieving our $3.2 million campaign goal.

Murray Walberg, RBC Royal Bank Regional Vice President, North Western Ontario presents their cheque for $10,000 to Confederation College President Pat Lang. This gift represents RBC Financial Group's ongoing commitment to the Aviation Centre of Excellence and is the fourth installment of their $50,000 pledge. RBC Financial Group continues to demonstrate good corporate citizenship through its partnership with the Alliance of Excellence and worthy projects at Confederation College.
