Confederation College is working together with the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to help young northerners gain access to work term opportunities that will help students to build a career in Northern Ontario. The aim is to have these opportunities serve as a springboard to rewarding and successful future employment right here in the North. Through this NOHFC program, Northern Ontario employers can apply for wage subsidy funding to help them invest in our highly skilled young workforce.
What Is Eligible
Funding is available for employers to hire post-secondary students from Northern Ontario so that they can gain practical work experience that fulfills the requirements of their Co-operative Education Program.

Both private sector and public sector (i.e. municipal governments, First Nations and not-for-profit corporations) employers located in Northern Ontario.
Youth Eligibility
Northern Ontario secondary school graduates, 29 years of age or under currently attending an accredited college or university in a Co-operative Education Program.
Candidates who have graduated from a high school outside of Northern Ontario, but have been residing in Northern Ontario for a minimum of one year would be eligible.
Mature students may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
