Aviation Technician - Aircraft Maintenance Program

CLASSES BEGIN AUGUST 22, 2011

To all new students attending this fall:  Please note that our classes begin on August 22, 2011.  Any student that does not attend on August 22nd or does not report to the coordinator by August 23rd at the latest will be dropped from the class list and replaced by students on the wait list unless late arrival is approved with the coordinator prior to commencement of classes.

Classes on August 22 will consist of registration, orientation, rules, official mandatory paperwork, coverall fitting, tool displays and other miscellaneous preparatory functions.  Starting on Tuesday, August 23rd you will begin scheduled classes.  In the past the computer timetabling has been in error so please disregard whatever it states and show up for your scheduled classes as outlined in the timetabling on August 22nd.

You will be expected to pay a fee of $100.00 for coveralls and lab materials during the first week.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday, August 22nd.

Mandatory Basic Tool List - Printable List at Bottom of Page

The following tools form the Mandatory Tool Kit for students enrolling in the Aviation Technician - Aircraft Maintenance Program.  Students must have most items by October 1st of the 1st semester.  Coveralls and safety shoes will be required by the end of the 1st week in September.

Coveralls - Must be purchased from college supplier during 1st week.

Miscellaneous - Safety Shoes - Preference composite toe and shank, Safety Glasses, Calculator - Scientific, Non-Programmable, Flashlight, Inspection Mirror (Swiveling with lock), 10 power Magnifying Glass, 6" Metal Ruler - Imperial Measurements in 64ths, Pocket Magnetic Pick Up Tool, Feeler Gauge Set, .010" to .035" (prefer narrow and tapered), Fine Tip Permanent Marker

NOTE:

  1. Ensure the safety shoes, safety glasses, the respirator and the ear defenders are comfortable, as you will be wearing them for lengthy periods of time.
  2. The tools do not need to be brand new.
  3. Students may purchase their tools from whomever they choose provided the tools are of good quality.  Coveralls will be purchased from the college supplier.
  4. All tool sizes to be Imperial Measurement (INCHES).  No metric tools required.
  5. Contact the school if you require any assistance with this list.
  6. Bring your tool kit for the second day of class.
  7. The kit must be complete as indicated and ready for inspection by mid September.

Tools may be acquired from any source.  The supplier's that have the price listings on our web page are just one source you can use.  The tools do not need to be new as long as they are in good condition so you may want to check out your parents garage, yard sales or pawn shops.  If you are purchasing new tools I suggest that you should ensure the tools have a lifetime warranty such as Canadian Tire's professional series, Sears Craftsman tools, Gray, Snap-on, Stanley or Rigid tools.  If you choose to purchase a tool package from the suppliers listed you will have to contact them using the forms attached.
