Academic Upgrading

Are you considering a postsecondary education? Would you like to have the necessary high school qualifications to enter an apprenticeship? Would you like to obtain a Certificate of High School Equivalency?

Eligibility Criteria

  • Resident of Ontario
  • Eligible to work in Ontario
  • 18 years or older (some exceptions apply)
  • If eligible, tuition costs may be covered by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (Employment Ontario)

Program Description

The Academic Upgrading Program prepares students to meet their educational and/or employment goals. Through the Academic Upgrading Program students can take all course requirements for admission into college, university, and apprenticeship programs or employment.

The program focuses on upgrading mathematics, communications, and computer skills. After successful completion of the preparatory courses, students can then enter the ACE Program which offers a wide variety of courses at the Grade 12 equivalent level.

The Academic Upgrading Program offers an individualized approach to learning.

  • Program is personalized to meet specific educational goals
  • Learning is self-paced and flexible and classes are offered both on campus and through distance learning
  • Classes operate year round with continuous intake (students can start anytime)
  • Program offers childcare and transportation allowance for those who qualify

You Should Enrol if

  • Not having your Grade 12 Diploma is holding you back from employment and educational opportunities
  • You have a high school diploma but not the subjects you need to enter further education and/or training
  • You want to obtain your Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Certificate

  • Academic and Career advisement is available through the Program Coordinator and Student Success Centre
