How do I enroll in this certificate?
The Aboriginal Canadian Relations Certificate-Program # 9611 is an added bonus for graduates of Confederation College.
You must register your interest in completing the Aboriginal Canadian Relations Certificate with the Registrar's Office. This can be done at any time during your study at Confederation College.
Courses to Choose from for Fall 2011
When you choose your electives in your program for Fall 2011 choose any of the following:
LV 100 History of Aboriginal Canadian Relations
LV109 Indigenous Identity and Relationship to the Land
SY066 Sociology of Community: The Aboriginal Context
HU169 Storytelling as a Cultural Narrative
NC306 Contemporary Aboriginal Society
What do I need to do to get the certificate?
In order to obtain this certificate you must take one HISTORY COURSE
choose from:
LV100 History of Aboriginal Canadian Relations
or HU 024 Historic Impact of Colonialism
and ONE COURSE IN ABORIGINAL WORLD VIEW
choose from
and LV109 Indigenous Identity and Relationship to the Land
and 3 other approved Aboriginal courses from Confederation College.
How long does it take?
You can take all 5 courses in one semester
or
You can take courses throughout and after you have completed your diploma ( one course / semester)
Are any courses available online?
Courses are in preparation for online delivery
By September 2010 - OL 843 History of Aboriginal Canadian Relations
OL 244 Diversity and First Nations in Canada
OL 258 First Nations Peoples
What if I have courses from other colleges/ university programs?
You can use 1 approved course from other institutions, but you must complete at least 4 at Confederation College.
You will still have to meet the content for the mandatory courses in History and World View.
